The story I chose is “Utah Law Literally Requires Doctors To
Lie About Abortion” found in Crooks and Liars. This was about Utah’s new bill
that states they will give an anesthetic to any women seeking abortion. Not
knowing what this does to the unborn child they still plan to administer this.
This article was written by Frances Langum. Her audience is the women who are
thinking about getting an abortion and to those who oppose it. She has two
videos, the first video is from a woman to disagrees with Utah’s bill. She
states that this affects not only the unborn child but also affects the
families. Utah argues that this will lessen the pain of the unborn child but in
reality it will only cause more. The second video is from a women to agrees
with the bill. She states that the person carrying the pregnancy has every
right to do what they want. And her job is just to inform them of their
options. The author wrote this article in oppose of the bill and said, “It’s a
tragedy that is complicated by political interference from jerks like Utah
legislature.” The argument was made clear at the beginning, is Utah’s new bill
for abortion good or bad? At first I wasn’t too sure what side the author was
on but after reading how they called the Utah legislature jerks it became quite
clear. Their credibility could have been better, there was only two videos and
a quote from a OBGYN. Not enough information was present.

The story I chose is “New law could put some medical marijuana dispensaries out of business” found in the Los Angeles Times. This
article talks about the new law in California that states that everybody
wanting to participate in the medical marijuana industry must apply for a
license. Anyone with a previous felony drug charge or any substantially related
offenses (illegal possession, fraud, deceit) be denied, even if the drug charge
was really small and happened a long time ago. The author of this article
Patrick McGreevy, wrote this to inform us of the new policies in Cali. His
audience is toward those who are wanting to join the medical marijuana industry
and those who are skeptical about it. For those who are wanting to join, he
states what you need to do to get in and how many people with drug charges are
affected. For those who are skeptical and aren’t too sure if this is a good
idea, McGreevy states that if a drug charge is too big or the LAPD thinks was
too serious of a crime, won’t be able to have a license. Still putting restrictions
on those who try to screw over the law. I think McGreevy credibility is pretty
good, he got many quotes from those in charge like Lori Ajex the head of the
state Bureau of Medical Marijuana Regulation. He also had many statistics
stating that an estimated 1250 medical marijuana dispensaries are opening up in
the state. He even states how much this industry is (2.7 Billion). McGreevy's argument is unknown, he simply states the facts to the issue but hasn't taken a side. In my opinion I think it is a little unfair and unjust that those convicted of having marijuana may be penalized for it now even though it is legal. It should have never been illegal.
G.O.P. Is Coming Around in Its Embrace of Donald Trump
I chose this article because many
people who didn’t like Donald Trump are now siding with him. “Why?” you may
ask, for this simple reason; they think he is going to win. Many of the people
like Ted Cruz thought Mr. Trump was a joke until he started receiving the most
votes for the election. It’s easy for people to jump to the winning side to get
something out of it. Bobby Jindal a former Gov. of Louisiana made fun of Trump
about his hair and describing him has a “egomaniac with no principles” and “a
madman who must be stopped.” But in a Wall Street Journal article Jindal was explaining
why he would vote for Trump. He said “I do not pretend Donald Trump is the
RTeaganessque leader we so desperately need, but he is certainly the better of
the two bad choices.” Comparing Trump to Hillary. Everybody is just starting to
hop on the bandwagon.
